About Me

Hi there! I’m Rachel. Welcome to my house. Here is where you rip off your bra and throw your hair up into that good old proverbial bun, take a load off and grab a dirty martini. Come on in, grab a seat at my bar and let’s get to know one another.

We love beautiful things, but keep it steady with a heavy dose of real. There’s no curated bits without the balance of smears on my appliances, legos under my feet and dirty footprints on my white couch (and chairs… and rugs…). Here we try to balance motherhood, wifedom, and the woman herself with all her personality, preferences, opinions, and talents.

We value family, friends, nature, fitness, spirituality, making home super homey, coffee, and a hearty pour of vino. I strive hard to create a space that is supportive, safe, non-judgmental that is here to bring mamas together. We are the web that holds community together, together.

In my house, we laugh, we cry, we tackle hard topics in order to lift one another higher. I am your biggest cheerleader and I believe that you can reclaim the dreams you’ve let settle like dirty sediment to the bottom of your heart. We’re here to excavate, revive, reignite and breathe life into you and the things you value most so your life represents a real version of you – not the glossy fake shit that everyone else is trying to pretend is their life.

Here it gets messy. I’m talking ugly cry, snot faced, reality slapping you in the face…but the kind where you say out loud that you are struggling and someone is at your doorstep in two minutes flat. On the other side of that is connection that is real and cemented through time and honest conversations.

Don’t forget all the fun! I’m the mama that wrangles all of my kids and my friends into a bounce house situation in my little trampoline – imagine 12-15 mamas all bouncing til their weakened pelvic floors give way under all that laughter and free flying joy. Yessir! We dress up, wear silly hats and enjoy champagne induced dance party sing alongs – all in the name of motivation, solidarity of mission, and in pondering life’s great mysteries.

And all this whilst I’m raising and homeschooling my three kids, homemaking, boosting up my husband, and juggling the mountains of laundry and dishes that never seem to end. Like, ever. Oh, and I try to read a book once in a while.

Life is short. Let’s live.

Drops of Golden Sun

When I was a kid, my friends would call me Rae. I actually worked in a truck stop while I was in high school and everyone called me Sunshine, so it just seemed to be this repeated theme, of light, that stuck.

Fast forward to having kids. I gave each of them the gift of a “drop of golden sun” with Rae as one of their middle names.

Hence, here we are with all of our drops of golden sun! Bringing in the light is what it’s all about.

Whether it be me, my kids, or bringing light and levity to life, to my home, creating sparks through creativity, or navigating the dark through which we emerge victorious, Light is something we believe in and strive to claim for ourselves.

So what is the why behind the blog?

I wanted to reclaim myself. My preferences, my opinions, dare I say my talents? I wanted to create a space to document my life, my discoveries, questions, obstacles I’ve overcome, a place that perhaps would act as a survival guide for other mothers who felt they’d lost themselves in the mix of overtired, burned out, invisible feeling repetition that is often everyday life.

I wanted to recapture wonder and gratitude, magic and the slowness of life that only comes by paying attention. I want to be present and suck the marrow out of life as it were. I want poetry, nature, the stars…and some good old conspiracy theories thrown in to boot.

I want ordinary to be seen as extraordinary.

Very well then I contradict myself.
